McMaster University is unique as the only Canadian university that combines the schools of medicine, nursing, and rehabilitation sciences; and postgraduate health sciences education along with the bachelor of health sciences, midwifery, and physician assistant programs into one Faculty of Health Sciences. This combination of disciplines allows members of the medical team to train in a collaborative, interprofessional setting to develop effective and efficient healthcare.
The Faculty of Health Sciences oversees, with its academic hospital partners, more than $237 million in health research a year. For six consecutive years, it has ranked within the top three Canadian schools for biomedical and healthcare research funding by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada.

MyOSCAR is a patient-controlled Personal Health Record (PHR) that offers the potential for people to keep all of their personal health information in one place, and to access it from a computer, smart phone or anywhere with internet access. Each MyOSCAR account holder decides which information to share, when to share it and with whom (family, friends, health care providers), giving them complete control over their own health record. Through MyOSCAR, users can access proven health management tools that help them better track trends in such things as blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Other tools assist in monitoring the effectiveness of medications, and a variety of other tools are in development. MyOSCAR makes each individual the center in a connected model of care, giving users the information, knowledge and tools they need to manage and improve their health.
