Centennial College is Ontario’s first community college, established in 1966, primarily serving the eastern portion of the Greater Toronto Area through four campuses and seven satellite locations. It has a record of exemplary teaching, innovative programming and extensive partnership building. Centennial is recognized as one of the most culturally diverse post-secondary institutions in Canada. Almost 100 ethno-cultural groups are represented and 80 languages are spoken on campus.
The Connected Health and Wellness Project will leverage Centennial’s expertise in gaming, 3D, and virtual world technologies to create leading and innovative user interfaces that are required to make the user experience compelling and fun.
The Project will also leverage skills from Centennial’s School of Business as well as the School of Communications Media and Design – kidsmediacentre and recognized worldwide subject matter experts in the area of Childhood / Adolescent Obesity.
Working within a revised childhood/adolescent obesity taxonomy developed by the project team,
- a summary of best practices for a patient centred coaching approaches to deal with the influences on childhood obesity will be produced
- a set of recommendations around interactive media approaches and applications for patient centred coaching which can target specific childhood obesity outcomes will be made
- examples of potential business models to support interactive media content development and deployment in support of patient centred coaching will be discussed.
